We met on Facebook Dating, of all places. So apparently FB doesn’t suck as bad as we thought??? No, its still terrible, but we both got very lucky to find one another.

During the obligatory small-talk texting phase, I asked Rosie what she enjoyed doing for fun. Her response: “I like trying out new breweries, and drinking beer!” Jackpot!

We met up for our first date the next day, with the promise of breakfast and cheap mimosas. But things picked up when we went to our first brewery together, Locale in downtown Mankato. I had never been there before, and it was within walking distance.

As it was my first time there, we decided on each having a flight of beers to try. Rosie selected a number of their standard beers, while I went for the sours and fruited beers. Were we too different? Not at all! Our differences in beer tastes have not only led to us being able to try even more types and styles of beer, but adds an interesting bit of diversity to our relationship.

I love birthdays and even though we hadn’t been dating very long, I knew I wanted to get Derek something special for his birthday. I thought the promise of adventure sounded like the perfect gift, and if that adventure happened to include a lot of beer, well that’s just a bonus. This should prove to be quite an exciting, albeit probably expensive, year.
